Inclusive projects for people with profound and multiple learning disabilities
Freda For All

The Twisting Ducks and service users at The Welford Day Centre worked with a musician to produce an interactive installation piece that harnessed innovative technology to produce musical sounds from every-day objects. The work, titled ‘Freda For All’, and inspired by the group’s love of The Beatles song ‘Yellow Submarine’, was exhibited on the 12th March 2016 by Tyne and Wear Museums and Galleries, at the Discovery Museum, as part of National Disability Access Day.

BBC Performing Arts Fund project

Members of The Twisting Ducks worked with a specialist ‘sound beam’ musician and dance artist, to support 3 people with profound and multiple learning disabilities to develop and take part in their own multimedia live performance. The project enabled our group members to develop greater skills and confidence in working with people who have profound and multiple learning disabilities. “it was just so exciting to see how hard people had worked and how excited they were, and how proud they were, and they were really outstanding on the day ” (Louise Hewitt, manager Welford Day Centre)
Inclusive animation

Our Inclusive animation project worked with six members with multiple and profound learning disabilities to make some animations about the things they are interested in. Please see below some of the work they did.
