Name: Veronica Dougherty

Trustee

Work History:

In my professional life, I have enjoyed a career in teaching and the privilege of working with inspirational young people. Formerly Director of Creative Arts, I was responsible for critically acclaimed student productions at the National Theatre, London, and the Edinburgh Fringe. In retirement, I have published along with my co author, Helena Jakubovskis, a student guide to Macbeth. A second Shakespeare Unpacked: A Midsummer Night’s Dream was started in the first lock

down and finished in the third. We are currently revising the first draft.

Personal Statement: As a parent trustee, I witness on a daily basis the transformative power of the Twisting Ducks’ Theatre Company: enhancing and giving the lives of disabled individuals purpose and meaning and providing opportunities for their creative energies to be expressed and celebrated. Engaging with the public and with professional bodies has provided a platform for their voices to be

heard and their stories told to enrich the lives of others. During the pandemic, Twisting Ducks provided a virtual lifeline keeping members connected, engaged and safe, a remarkable achievement and a testament to their dedication. The work of all involved in the Twisting Ducks’ community, for which I am personally grateful, is truly

humbling.
