Work History

I have over 40 years experience in leadership and management in teaching, youth work, community learning, Further Education, employability programmes and work with homelessness gained through my work both in the public and voluntary sector , locally, regionally and nationally. I have gained many skills and developed many friendships along the way. Promoting equality and diversity and challenging inequality has always been an integral part of my work and personal beliefs.

Personal Statement

I have always been passionate about supporting Twisting Ducks and the work that they do. I strongly believe that their vision and commitment to inclusion, their skills and their achievements are uniquely amazing and they have substantially contributed to ensuring greater opportunities for young people and young adults with learning disabilities.

From their early embryonic and magical days in Westgate Community College where as a Senior Adult Learning Manager for Newcastle City Learning(Newcastle Council ) I liaised directly with the Trustees for a number of years, to joining the Board in an independent capacity in 2015, my commitment has always been unwavering.

As well as being a member of the Trustees, my voluntary work in recent years has included supporting adults who experience dyslexia, supporting homelessness and supporting adults in care settings.

I have 2 sons and a doggy, I love music and the arts and of course the craic. ( Irish for having fun!). I hope that my energy , enthusiasm and life long learning experiences are of benefit to the Ducks and that now that I’m fully retired from work I can dedicate more time to supporting this great organization.
