Name : Lauren Kilday

Personal Statement:   I am a second year English Literature student at Newcastle University. And I am volunteering with Twisting Ducks as a set designer. My interests in staging and designing have developed from my degree, as it has shown me how written work can be turned into a performance. This has made me invest in the construction of space and has given me the opportunity to express my creative skills. Whilst I have not worked with a theatre company before, I have previously volunteered with guides, as a young leader, and have been involved in charity work with M10. So, this is a new experience I am looking forward to. 

 Working with the Twisting Ducks has given me the opportunity to engage with wonderful groups of new people. Which has developed my understanding of individuals with learning difficulties and disabilities, and how they use theatre to express themselves and create their own amazing performances. At the moment, I am enjoying communicating with the Twisting Ducks and getting involved in their present activities. I am looking forward to engaging with these concepts and being able to offer my support as a volunteer.
