Personal Statement: As a third year Environmental Science student at Newcastle University, volunteering at Twisting Ducks has enabled me to engage with my creative side in a fun and rewarding work environment. My previous volunteering experience has taken place abroad including work with the Red Cross Hong Kong in which I worked closely with individuals with severe learning disabilities by helping facilitate their basic needs.

           At Twisting Ducks, I am hoping to expand upon this previous experience in a completely new way as a volunteer set designer. So far, this opportunity has allowed me to collaborate with staff and members of Twisting Ducks from a diverse range of backgrounds. Through this, I have not only been able to develop creatively and contribute to some wonderful upcoming performances, but I have also seen firsthand the excellent opportunities Twisting Ducks provides people with learning difficulties and disabilities in helping them reach their goals and creative aspirations. I’m extremely excited to continue working on upcoming projects and help members bring to life the creative ideas they have for their hard work.
